While Dyson vacuums live up to the brand hype and their generally high price tags, picking the right one for your home can be a challenge. There are stick vacuums, upright vacuums, and vacuums meant for hardwood floors. Some people own multiple Dysons, while others can only afford one on sale. Some people have big messes — think kids and pets — while others have little messes.
To help navigate the different Dyson models, I spent several weeks reviewing three different vacuums: The Dyson V8 Absolute, Dyson Ball Animal 2 and Dyson Omni-Glide. I tested each in a multi-pet household and in a one-bedroom apartment, on both hardwood floors and rugs coated in dog and cat fur. My parents have two dogs and four cats, plus a bird, while I have three cats and a small dog at my apartment. Needless to say, these vacuums had plenty of work for them.
